Great article! In reading your run of bad luck one stood out to me. I am not sure I could handle the wait for the pizza(with a hangover I suspect), the angst of thinking the delivery guy was running late and the pure dread of finding out it wasn't even coming. Tragic!

In for a Penny, in for a pound. I will not quit on my team and I don't want you ruining that great song for me even though it is the perfect analogy. What we need now is to see improvement each week even if it is ever so slight. And for all of you saying lets tank and get Caleb Williams, I direct you to the song Andrew referenced. Lets build the best o-Line and D-Line in football and start there. Teams with good O-Lines and D-Lines are ALWAYS competitive.

And, at least from my perspective, you forgot the ND last second defeat.

I'm glad you share my priorities. The only thing that could have made the watching experience manageable was a hot pie in front of me. And I did think the delivery driver was running slightly late just based on it being Sunday. Truly, genuinely devastating.

(I would have included the ND defeat, but it's tough taking ownership of two college teams in one newsletter.)

Great write up! I have to admit this is the least disappointed I’ve been by a Cubs collapse in all my years as a Cubs fan. Pretty sure they would have exited stage left from the playoffs faster than the Bears can blow a 21 point lead. Plus this way there’s no off season rationalizing they just need a tweak or two to make it to the promised land next year.

Speaking of the Bears, I guess you still have to come through Chicago, but you’re really going to have to get through Detroit. My Honolulu Blue wardrobe is coming out of mothballs.

Also just a reminder my hoodie size is a large 🙂.

No doubt -- the fact that the Cubs would have lost immediately if they had gotten in has made the grieving process that much smoother and quicker.

We're absolutely going to have to come through Detroit, and I began looking at Peter Millar Wildcat windbreakers last week. Now, I've taken them out of the cart. Pro Bowl, here we come.

Sorry I'm a little tardy to the comment section again.

Have to imagine the one who yelled Trubisky sucks is PC?

If the Bears actually fall into a first overall draft pick, have to imagine they 100% take Caleb and move on from Fields. I'm not saying its the right move, probably is given all the high grades and hype around him, but it gives the Bears front office a chance to cover their own asses because Fields was never "their guy" and they inherited him. I guess we'll deal with that in a few months.

Nice to see that the Bulls were "in the mix" for Jrue Holiday. Probably weren't comfortable giving up Dalen Terry.

I agree that's what they'll do and I *lean* toward it being the right move. But man, it's almost guaranteeing we go through this exact same process for the next three years, too. At least the fans will have a new QB to watch highlights of in the offseason, only to have him sacked on 15% of dropbacks in his rookie year.

I was so ready to have a serviceable, competitive team. 8-10 wins. Lots of good. Go into the offseason fired up to know we have a top 10 pick (Panthers) and another mid round pick. Grab an elite pass rusher and an interior lineman. Playoff team. But nope. That would have been too easy. We now will have two top 5 picks and will have to delay improving our trenches since we will need Caleb Williams and MHJ. Can't pass either one if they are there. Such a shame. Poles better buy every single O-Lineman in FA and put a stone wall in front of Williams.

If the Bears don't come away with 2 generational linemen (either side of the ball) this offseason, Poles will officially have lost my patience. Whether the offseason includes Williams or not. That's basically a non-negotiable.

Glad you are back! I need that Chicago angst, you write it best. So, like Kelce, you are

"Brilliant.

Job well done."
