I think the Bulls front office needs to be investigated! Insane that they were offered a 1st round pick for a guy who didn't play for 2 seasons.

As I mentioned to you over text, I did want the Cubs to land a big FA for once. Looks like it was more of the same bs "we tried!" I am happy we didn't get Bregman though, especially for that $ amount. It sucks knowing they will probably just let Tucker walk too. I saw that the Cubs were messing around with the idea of trying Canario at 1st and moving Busch to 3rd. If that works out, I believe it could give our lineup some serious power, and it allows you to ease Shaw into the bigs at 2nd/3rd. Regardless cant wait to take the central back and never give it back!

If Tucker is not re-signed, I will be livid. What was the point? To win the World Series this year?

My belief is now that the Ricketts don't want to give out any long-term deals until the new CBA is agreed to after 2026. They want a cap so they don't have to give out any mega deals.

Love the intel on the Cubs front office. Not too disappointed Bregman won’t be a Cub. Always thought his stats were inflated by playing at Minute Maid (or whatever they call it now) and help from the garbage cans 🙂. Dawned on me after reading your post that his new manager will be one of his sign stealing partners in crime.

Great write up - keep them coming 👍

Yup, happy to let Cora and Bregman reunite in Boston. I don't want anything to do with that!

Thank you for reading the newsletter and for the kind words, DrewMac!

I think this is the year I buy a radio and make an effort to listen to more cubs games.

I've gotten back about 120 hours of my life vs. last year in terms of watching/following the bulls, might shift that newly found free time towards reuniting my passion for the cubs.

America the Beautiful is a religious like experience for me. I don't know what that was. In my humble and amateur opinion, Drake blows Kendrick away. Short fella. Lastly, I have already ordered the Mark Twain book by Ron Chernow.

More importantly, I struggle to see that the Cubs are much better than last year. Unless Dansby and Nico turn it around, I don't get it. I will miss Bellinger. Starting Pitching does not look significantly better if better at all besides certain people having better years. I thought the Ricketts were our hope in this shit bag Sports Ownership city, but apparently not.

Speaking of shit bag Sports Owners, the Bulls should be every Business School's example for how NOT to run an organization. All hope is lost.

The problem is, the Bulls make plenty of money! Strategically, yes, they're awful. Their goal is not to win. But making money? They're fine at that (though they deserve no credit for that).

It must be infuriating to lose out on major stars through no fault of your own and be blamed for it.

Only with the Eagles. They won a SB when he was out there. Forgivable

Always enjoy reading the newsletter. The references to your dad are priceless! Although he’s not sub-human, Danny is a closet birds fan. Have a great weekend
