Hey Andrew, and all the SGCTC fans. Great article, The breaking point for me during the Bears game was in the 4th quarter, Bears ball, down 3 scores, 8 minutes left in the game. Play Call? Montgomery up the middle for 1 yard. I then started watching Criminal Minds. Rex Ryan: Shut up. You and your family are big mouth vulgar losers who have never won anything. Hawks? The joke that is Stan Bowman continues. Should be arrested for killing this franchise and fan base. I do hope Toews is ok, just like Hossa, we lose a true leader. Bama wins because Saban holds players accountable for their actions. I am a Notre Dame fan (the second type!) I remember the disaster with Bob Davie, Ty Willingham, Charlie Wiess, etc. so I appreciate they are a top 5 team with lofty academic standards. Their 2021 schedule is absolutely brutal. will be tough to get there again. I am enjoying the run they are having. Stay safe and healthy, looking forward to the next SGCTC !!

Rex Ryan has been off on the Bears all year long, but at least someone with a national platform called out Nagy for his blame-game.

I have a feeling we have a lot of ND fans of the second variety reading the newsletter. It's why I felt compelled to include that.

Agreed all elsewhere. Thanks for reading!

This football team isn't going anywhere until Ted Phillips is gone. He doesn't know the first thing about football and the only reason he has lasted this long is because he continues to line the Mccaskeys pockets with FIAT. After watching the press conference I truly believe that Geoge Mccaskey might be the dumbest person in the chicagoland area. I think im the exact opposite of you in terms of being an ND fan, my fandom for ND has sky rocketed in recent years. Brian Kelly is a top 5 college football coach and I am willing to die on this hill. He's not necessarily turning water into wine, but he is damn close!

So much to comment on! 1) Bears - Bottom Line, they are too cheap to fire anyone and everything is an excuse to hide that reality. The whole family lives off of that team. I actually think they told Pagano everyone was back and he said, "no thanks'. The ONLY way I allow Nagy back is if he promised to hire a good Offensive Coordinator and promised complete hands off.

2) Notre Dame - Great Job Andrew! You nailed the ND fans and being the one who owes my ND allegiance to my Immigrant Grandfather who was so excited that a team called the "Fighting Irish" went out every weekend and whipped everyone's ass, I find myself hiding my Irish allegiance when I am around ND Grads.

3) Football Season - I literally think that Football saved me from going insane this year. It filled so many open spaces and gave me something to look forward to. It gave me three great days on the deck of my great friend before he passed unexpectedly. I will cherish those memories!

I don't think Nagy will hold that promise, he has too big of an ego. And that ego is fed by owners who actually believe in him because they don't understand football.

Agreed on all other points! Happy to have a slew of the second-type of ND fans as readers. And a few of the other kind.

I'm absolutely disgusted. Was there one answer that was directly answered in that entire press conference last year? This bullshit about culture and trusting the process is so damn tired I couldn't listen to it. I knew going into listening to 4 of the biggest morons in the world I was gonna be pissed off but they took me to levels I didn't know existed.

Ted Phillips doesn't know shit about shit, and says he stays out of football operations, and then continued to go on about his involvement in football operations.

George McCaskey I won't even go into because if any coworkers are SGCTC certified I will lose my job.

Ryan Pace is the biggest douche bag asshole piece of shit scum bag fuck to walk the streets of Chicago. What is this culture bullshit? A good culture of patting people on the back for mediocrity? How about him blaming everything on Mitch? I think it's been well stated that I hate Mitch Trubisky, but can he stop being the fall guy for everything? Pace talks about the importance of the QB position, and in his Bears tenure has signed Mike Glennon, drafted dumbo Mitch, and traded for Nick Foles. No answer provided on how anyone in this world can trust him to make a decision on the position, because I don't even think he knows how anyone is still doing that.

Matt Nagy fucking fuck you to hell. We are patting people on the back for enduring a 6-game losing streak? Battling through adversity? Hey buddy, there's a global pandemic a few people outside of Halas Hall have battled through some adversity. Again, blaming his bullshit dink and dunk cute offense on Mitch.

As much as I hate Mitch, I hope he is an incredible quarterback somewhere else, just to show the incompetence of this front office and management. I'm fucking disgusted I don't even know what to say.

The talks of accountability? No real metric is holding them accountable. Ted Phillips said there isn't a number of wins to hold them to?? People fresh out of college have specific numbers they have to hit in order to retain their job, but not the brilliant Matt Nagy or Ryan Pace!

Fuck this team. Fuck the Bears. There I said it.

Fuck.

I didn't get a chance to watch the presser and I'm happy I didn't. I don't know how hard I can continue to root for the Bears with Nagy and Pace in their current spot. Pete Rose example is spot on- Pace is going to do everything in his power this year to save his ass for one more year. There is no reason he should still be around.

When Theo left the Cubs this off season, I was sad but knew he was doing it for the right reasons. He didn't have a long term commitment to the Cubs, and knew that because of that it would be irresponsible for him to be making long-term decisions past his tenure.

The Bears "making the playoffs" this year shouldn't even be tallied when we talk about playoff appearances in our life time. The Bears finished 8-9, and the playoff performance only amplified how far out of contention the Bears really are. The Bears started 3-0; but if you go back to those games they were disgusting wins- Lions (Swift dropped TD that Jacob Werner would've caught on a hungover sunday), Giants (needed a red zone stand to fend them off 17-13) and the Falcons (one of their many monumental collapses which led to their coach getting fired). Since then they are 5-9, with the only impressive win coming against the Buccaneers on TNF. 5-9 even feels like a little much after all we went through (god bless the Jags and Texans).

That's the point -- the Bears were far closer to being a bottom-5 team this year than they were to being a top-5 team. They had one quality win over the Bucs, which they won by one point.
