Why would you hate the Ozzie hire? I get he is probably a high risk/high reward hire and you probably hate his personality. However, I think if there is one guy that can get these younger Latin American players to actually care about winning, he’s your guy. Not disagreeing with you just curious.

Also what do you think about a Lonzo trade around the deadline? What do you think we could get for him? Love or hate it?

I actually like Ozzie's personality a lot. And I like him on the postgame show. But what makes him good on the postgame show would make him a horrible modern day manager: brash, unwilling to accept modern philosophy, etc. Especially in social media era, would be a disaster. Plenty of candidates -- including Grifol -- that can relate to Latin American players.

No chance Bulls are trading Lonzo. The best version of them over these past two years was with him in the lineup, and they invested significantly in him. They're for sure hoping he comes back and becomes the starting point guard again. Right now, because of his injury, there's no way he'd net a lot in the trade market. Anyone trading for him would want him to for sure contribute this year. There's no guarantee for that.

I personally think Lonzo is what takes this team from a good team to a great one. He fills every blank space. Great perimeter defender next to two meh ones in DeRozan and LaVine and a great three-point shooter that's not afraid to take them. Bulls need that desperately. If he's not back, they'll likely go out and get another three-point shooter at the deadline.

That is probably so true you put Ozzie’s huge ego in that clubhouse with the players and Yoan is requesting a trade after 20 games, didn’t think about that. Second question, I know Joe Maddons name was getting floated around for an interview, don’t think they interviewed him but what would you think about that hire? Personally he had success with the worst team in all of sports but I think he had terrible bullpen management in the playoffs. But hey they won a World Series so what the hell do I know

Back from the dead. Ryan Poles has my support 100% I love everything he is doing. I feel like we could have gotten a little more for Roquan but still love the move. If he doesn’t want to be in Chicago building something special then get the hell out. When i saw that we gave up a second rounder for claypool I was ready to march to Halas hall with an angry mob bearing pitch forks and flaming torches, but I have since calmed down. Steelers had him playing in the slot and not maximizing his potential, which hopefully Getsy will do. And it certainly doesn’t hurt to get fields some help. Couldn’t agree more - only thing that matters is that we see progression from fields. This season isn’t about wins and losses. if we lose out and fields continues to progress, frankly I would be a happy fan, higher draft pick and knowing we have our guy for the next 15 years.

How about that Patrick Williams guy…never doubted him for a second!! Baby claw!!

There he is! Glad to have you back in the comment section, brother. Thank you for your continued support on the newsletter and on all of my takes. I'll ignore the "he fucking sucks" comment I heard in my ear last week on Pwill.

Crude comments don’t get you 82 games. My man was getting down and dirty!

Well saidon the Roquan piece. I am one who does not totally understand the ROI on trades in the NFL. Also, after letting up 49 points on Sunday night it became pretty evident that we don't have a super bowl defense this year. What is the point in hanging onto him for nothing?

I thought you would forgive Claypool for all of that as a Notre Dame guy! As far as the move, I have talked myself into it. Can't stand up for Fields and complain that he has no help and then complain when they start putting help around him. We need big gnarly physical receivers.

I'm loving this bench mob pt 2. No mention of Javonte's masterpiece??

I think the reality is that getting down and dirty you can still get away with. But then when you bring in the crude comments, they can't look away anymore.

The Javonte omission is unacceptable. Next week!

I have been going both ways on the Roquan trade. I can't help but blame the cheap ass McCaskey's on one hand, yet I understand that if we were going to lose him due to unrealistic expectations it is better to get something for him. I do disagree with your assessment that he is making tackles further down field. He is, but that is because the DLine is much inferior to last year's DLine and more blockers are reaching him. I am not so sure that watching him lead the league in tackles made the Bears think he was going to get even more demanding than he already was regarding his contract.

Also, the thing we are missing here is that the MLB is the captain of the defense. I am not sure how Roqaun was in the huddle but are we missing an important part of the MLB's job? I remember when the Bears decided they didn't need Urlacher anymore. The defense went from 5th in the league to the worst in Bears history only to be followed by the next worst in history the following year.(Shoutout to Michigan State for giving a 10 year $95M contract to the architect of that defense). Wads Urlacher getting old and banged up, yes, but he was also the captain of that defense.

Bulls - Lavine looks much better, but he is still a little afraid to attack the basket like he used to. Great coaches develop players. Ayo looks much better, PWill is improving, great pickups with Goran and, most importantly, Drummond who seems to be exactly what we were missing last year.

The D-line being far worse is absolutely a fair point and one I probably should have mentioned. Having said that, he's also had some embarrassing moments in the open field. The 'captain of the defense' aspect is also a very fair point, and, like I said, one of the many quibbles you could have with the deal.

Going from Mooney/?/? to 1st Rounder/Claypool/Mooney would be an incredible jump. I love the trade but only if we grab that 1st round receiver still. That, combined with some O-Line free agents will be a top-10 offense next year. Need to make it happen!

Absolutely, man. It's going to be a blast with a high-end pick there, Mooney, Claypool, and then another second for Fields to get it to them next year.
