I wasn't sold on Daboll (because I knew virtually nothing about him) until I saw his mustache. Bring this man to Chicago!

Pederson is who I thought Nagy was when the Bears went to the playoffs in Mitch's second season. I think I'd be happy with either of them.

I do believe that is exactly what your mother said but I can guarantee you didn’t give me that smart response.

Andrew wasn’t as sleuth as he represents himself. I showed up to one of his Baseball games only to have to coach come up and apologize that I didn’t know he was suspended for grades. Then coach Powell was trying to get him to wrestle but informed me he couldn’t because of his grades.

Things will never change with the Bears because they are, by far, the cheapest team in the NFL. How many Halas generations do you think are on that payroll? The reason they will not hire a President of Football Operations is because that role is paid significantly more than GM. They won’t do it.

George McCaskey came across as like Tommy Farley on Tommy Boy being in front of the Board explaining how to save the company. He has no idea. But I do know Halas is turning over in his grave watching his spoiled offspring ruin one of the greatest businesses on earth.

I love Harbaugh but don’t want him for this job. We need an Offensive mind that will bring continuity to an offense. I don’t know who that is! But, if everything goes like it always does, we will go the cheap route and then all we have is hope that we luck out.

Great point re: paying for an extra position, one I hadn't considered. It would take away power and also money.

Also a great Tommy Boy comparison.

I can't comment on any of the other allegations.

At this point we just have to pray we get lucky.

I could have written this sentence and left it at that but wrote 4,000 words instead.

Hahahaha it does sound like the Bears opening is the best situation of the teams looking for new coaches/gms, so I’m cautiously optimistic we may get lucky. O no I just went down that rabbit hole… Shame on me.

Thoughts on a Pat Fitzgerald hire?

I think that would be a disaster.

Fitzgerald is amazing at his job but in my mind the epitome of a college coach. A leader of young men and a breeder of that specific culture. He's not big on Xs and Os and hasn't exactly churned QBs into top talents (unless you consider Trevor Siemian one).

I'm not sure he'd a) get the same buy-in at the professional level and 2) be able to keep up with top-of-the-line coordinators on the opposing side.

Maybe, maybe it could work if he could transfer that culture and get two really good coordinators in there, but he hasn't even really been able to do that at Northwestern.

Agreed. Yeah just towards the end if it’s between two guys or something just as long as he can see himself working well with the coach. Don’t need another roller coaster of Jay and Martz (different scenarios but you get it)

Prefer Daboll since he has a track record of being around winning teams/programs as well as developing a QB. Todd Bowles wouldn’t be horrible if he could bring in an OC, which lead to his demise at the Jets. Biggest need is someone to come in and develop Fields, but Fields also has no say in the coaching search according to George.

I am not sure what it is with the Bears front office and their obsession with the Eagles Super Bowl team but pass on that. It would be very Bears to fire a former Saints FO member to go get the coach and current GM/ whatever title Ireland has.

Agreed mostly on all fronts.

At the very least, the Bears should bring Fields in toward the end. He's a rookie, doesn't need to be involved intimately with the process. But a 'Hey, what do you think?' would be wise. Frankly, it'd be nonsensical not to do so.
