Man, it really still does not feel real. I do not want to admit the amount of time I have spent watching Fields' highlights. Kinda like when you would check your hours logged in grade school on Modern Warfare 2. It is beyond me why he fell out of the top ten but that segways into my next point. I love that he fell out of the top ten. In his head he has to be thinking, how do guys with significantly less experience and playing against significantly worse competition get picked before me? Gotta imagine that is going to fuel him.

Definitely a tough go for the sox no way around it but its definitely not something to throw the season away for. Lineup is still loaded as we saw last night. Grandal is slowly getting on my list though. I really really miss James McCann. The starting pitching has been great though. I know I was out on Rodon but I'm glad that I've been proven wrong (for now). Hopefully, Kopech works his way into a full-time starting role.

These bulls are pretty frustrating. Hard to put the blame on anyone but they have looked so different since the all star break. I know that has to do with the trade but still it looks like even the guys that have been here have lost that spark. I don't wanna see Denzel, lauri, or arch in a bulls uniform next year. Still hope for the 30 wins and we are going to keep our positivity. HOWEVER, I have an important question that might put you in a bind. Would you rather have the Bulls get to 30 wins this year, or continue to lose and have a greater chance of getting in the top 4 in the NBA lottery so we can keep the pick we traded?

Tough to root for the Bulls to lose, but I would do some unforgiveable things to see Jalen Suggs in a Bulls uni

I agree, can’t turn back now but after the bears draft I am feeling greedy

My oh my we have a quarterback. When Trubisky was drafted, I think myself and the entire city had nowhere near the excitement that a number 2 overall quarterback selection should have, but Fields has electrified the city. I think I have watched every single highlight tape on YouTube on the guy and could not be more excited. As for Jenkins and as you mentioned, I would've been thrilled to get him at 20. Losing the third rounder hurt as I thought they could address the receiver position there and we could finally stop watching Anthony Miller run aimlessly around the field and talk shit after having 1 reception for 6 yards the whole game, but maybe(?) some of the free agent additions or Dazz Newsome can show some production. Deep balls to Darnell Mooney are gonna give me the chills. I think Justin Fields could very easily turn out to be the best QB in the class, but a lot of that relies on Nagy so that is terrifying. If we get him in the system we had Trubisky going in (albeit against 3 of the worst defenses in the league) in the final games of last season, I think he has pro bowl potential as a rookie (if he gets the starting nod early enough).

I haven't been more excited about the Bears in my life and I cannot wait for this journey with all of you. Love you guys, love the Bears, slowly starting to love the Cubs again.

Go Bears!

Love you bro!

I agree that the only reason Fields won't be a top-2 QB in the class is because of the environment he's in and the coach he has.

I like Dazz Newsome, and am also surprised we haven't traded Miller yet, but I assume he has little value on the market.

Well said Cack. Another point to be made- theres a good chance that Mac Jones has a better first few years in the league than Fields, but that does not at all mean that Jones was a better pick, just that he was drafted into a dream QB development situation and our head coach is Matt Nagy.

Bears - before we go giving Pace the Executive of the Year Award, we need to realize that the stars aligned and Fields fell into our laps. They never dreamed he would be there. I am excited for the pick as well even though this trend of taking the Mobile Quarterback seems to defy logic since the only non-traditional pocket passer to win the Super Bowl in the last 25 years has been Patrick Mahomes. I am excited because I have seen Fields hang in the pocket and make nice throws. Now that wide receiver screen should work perfectly now, right?

Love that lineman.

Cubs - I agree Bryant looks incredible but I have seen this movie before. Lets hope he doesn't get hurt because if he does, he always comes back looking like shit. I love the little contact hitter brigade we have going with Hoerner, Duffy(Who I want to and probably will call Murphy from here on out) and Sogard. Can the hitting get good enough that we seriously wonder why for the love of god we traded our Cy Young pitcher?

Sox - can we get off of this "Old is Bad" Millenial/Gen Z movement. He is 3X World Series Champion and 4X Manager of the Year. You are loaded with injuries and still sit in 1st place. So, S>T>F>U!

Bulls will be good next year but it is time to punt on this year and hope for a Lottery Miracle where we keep our pick. Free Agents are coming!!! Never thought that would happen again.

Let's start with your fallacious bullshit on "mobile" quarterbacks. First of all, until five years ago, no one drafted non-traditional pocket passers, so yeah, it makes sense that one wouldn't have won the Super Bowl. That's no. 1.

No. 2, is Russell Wilson a traditional pocket passer? You're basically talking about Peyton Manning and Tom Brady winning Super Bowls, who are two top-5 quarterbacks all time.

Are you arguing that you'd rather have you quarterback not be mobile? You'd rather him not have an additional skillset? That sounds dumb.

Anyway, I agree he to some extent fell in our laps. Like I said, the rest of the teams will look dumb.

As for La Russa, as I wrote last week, him being a HOFer means absolutely nothing right now. The Phil Jackson comparison. Did his 11 championships make his reign with the Knicks good? No, not even close.

It's not about him being old, there are plenty of good old coaches. He's just making poor decisions -- watch the games. This is the same guy who thinks Joe Maddon is a bum. Maddon also won a lot of games, remember that?

Joe Maddon is a bum. David Ross is just now getting the bad habits out of the hitting approaches he allowed.

Russell Wilson IS a traditional Pocket Passer.

Mobile QB's have been being tried for years. Don't make it about race. The traditional thought was that you were exposing them to injury too much be letting them run. The bigger problem, ala Lamar Jackson, is when you are really good at it, you abandon the throwing opportunities too early. It develops bad habits. AS I SAID, I HAVE NOT SEEN THAT FROM FIELDS THUS FAR.

My STFU was for our obnoxious White Sox fans. Sox have a boatload of injuries and are in first place. Calm down SOX fans.

The White Sox fans are mad about the same things you got mad about with Maddon.

So, again, you're saying that you'd rather have your QB not be mobile? I don't understand. Are you saying run-first QBs? I don't know man, Lamar Jackson would be the best Bears quarterback of all time almost immediately.

Russell Wilson has rushed for almost 5,000 yards from scrimmage in his career.

Last newsletter I left a comment about how incompetent Pace and Nagy were, and the only thing that could possibly get my to buy into the Bears this year, is if they somehow miraculously got Justin Fields. I was half kidding too. Now I'm all in. I have a theory in my own head with no real backup that if Trevor Lawrence weren't in this draft, Justin Fields would've been the clear cut number one pick for any team. I know QBs were picked before him, but no team would take Zach Wilson or Lance with the first pick (I think, idk).

Baseball is a long season filled with hot and cold streaks, but its tough not to get excited and have some hope after that performance against the Dodgers. It's also refreshing to see some of our best hitters getting their bats going. I get frustrated with Javy but it is so fun seeing him get a hold of a baseball.

I don't have much to say about the Bulls. I also want it to be known that I got some Sushi from Jewel last night and it was some of the best Sushi I've had in a while. NEED a win over the Hornets tomorrow.

Sushi from Jewel? Wow.

I could not agree with you more re: Fields being the first pick if Lawrence wasn't in the draft. Everyone else had to overthink with the amount of talent there was. Great take by you, sir!
